Battlegroup Barbarossa

Last Saturbays Battlegroup Barbarossa Game. We played the "Long Road East" scenario.
Was very much fun. It started really bad for my Russians but in the end I was just one point short of the Geramns

Club Night

Here are some pics from our last club night.
At the moment we are changing rules from Behind Omaha to Battlegroup.
Behind Omaha is a quite simple German ruleset. Fast to learn and play but a bit predictable and not 100% my cut of tea. Battlegroup is a more detailed ruleset. But also quite easy to learn. It is less predictable and in my opinion more fun to play.

The game features the batle of the Alytus bridgehead during Operation Barbarossa. The Germans have established a bridgehead and the Russian forces tried to push them back.
On the German side stood a Kradschützen platoon togehter with a tank platoon consisting mainly of Panzer 38t and Panzer II. Artillery was of a battery of two 10,5 cm howitzers.
On the Russian side stood a motorised infantry platoon, lots of tanks (mainly T26ers and T28ers). As we had not enaough T26ers we used T70s instead and four 122m howitzers off table.
The game ended in a crushing defeat of the Russian forces. Mainly due to some pad positioning of the tanks (not a wise idea to let slow tanks rumble through woods), and of the Germans forcing me down with lots of pinning fire.
Anyway we will be back for revenge to brush away the German invaders from the holy soil of mother Russia....

Hapy New Year 2017

I hope that everyone of you arrived safely in the New Year.

I have not found time to post some pictures in the past weeks so here are a few.

Old School 25/20mm Garrison Models. I have weak spot for everything Old School when it comes to hobby things. For me these models have a certain charme I cannot resist
Two Italeri ACW Union riders. These come from their excellent ACW packs.
Another Garrison model. This time the horn blower from the Romans range.
Size wise he fits with most modern 1/72 scale models.
This chap is a GW Dark Eldar warrior. One can find these plastic chaps for a few quid on ebay. I thinks this is a shame because the Dark Eldar models with their sinister look will fit quite easily in many scifi settings.

R.I.P. Joe Dever

This time I have some sad news. Joe Dever died on November 29th.
Many of you will know him for the Lone Wolf series of gamebooks. In fact the gamebooks were my start into fantasy roleplaying. Later I started with Games Workshop Fantasy Battles and WRG 6th edition (yes I did play it) and D.B.A.
But it was his gamebooks which started it all.

A lot more crisis

Well as promised some more pictures of the Crisis show in Antwerp

Me left and Frank right waiting to get a park ticket.
Finally there. There was just one place to buy the parking ticket.
Frank (left), Hans Jürgen aka Sturmi (middle) and Marcel (right) checking the goodies bag.

Do you remember these houses?? Yeppa I played with such model cowboys when I was a toddler on my parents living room floor.

 A lucky find a the bring an buy. A box 5 Euro....bargain....!!!
The parthians were especially a must buy because I need them to finish my Parthian DBA Army.
Plastic Soldier Company offerd a buy 4 get 5 offer....well I always fall for that damned offer.
Something for the reading table. Not that much as last year but nice books. The one about the Swiss in Napoleons armies I have read during the last days. Highly recommended...o.k. buy it.
 Simply an impulse buy...Over 200 packs of 1/3000 scale warships....for 20€.
At the moment I am busy searching my book shelf for the rules.
That was inside the yellow bag. A frame of 28mm Warlord Games Romans, a lead 28mm model of a medieval queen and a turn maker....Great....!!
